Learning Through Internships

The LTI program is a central roll in the school’s curriculum and is one of the most important ways that students take their learning beyond the classroom. Students are allowed to explore careers that they are considering to pursue in later life in a real way. At internships students often work as employees and are expected to complete the same tasks. Students develop an academic project to benefit their internship and incorporate the Learning Goals into their internship work. When students find an internship that they love, everything about their engagement with their learning changes in a positive way. LTI’s also offer students access too many different technologies and experiences that they could not get at Shenandoah alone. Students have interned with architecture firms with access to CAD a drafting program, to veterinarians and hospitals. At their internships students are trained to use many of the things that the employees of the business use everyday.
